Murphy is a loving and incredibly affectionate 5-year-old boy who is looking for a home to call his own.

He’s a real gentle giant who sometimes forgets just how big and strong he is! Murphy absolutely loves being close to his people and has a very funny way of asking for affection — he’ll sit beautifully in front of you, offer his paw, and then suddenly decide that your knee is exactly where he belongs!

Murphy has a lovely nature around people and would make a wonderful companion for a family who can give him plenty of love and attention. He could also live with children who are able to understand and respect his space.

Living with other dogs, Murphy currently lives alongside other dogs and walks beautifully in their company. Within the home, however, he can be quite rough and persistent when playing and doesn’t always recognise when another dog has had enough. Because of this, Murphy could potentially live with a confident, strong and fairly bolshy female dog who is able to hold her own, set clear boundaries and won’t be intimidated by his enthusiastic style of play. Any resident dog would need to be carefully matched with Murphy, and successful meets would be essential. Alternatively, Murphy would be perfectly happy as the only dog in his new home, where he can enjoy having all of his humans’ attention to himself.

Murphy is a clever boy and already has some fantastic foundations in place. He is: Toilet trained, Crate trained and will happily settle in a crate, Knows basic commands including sit, paw, lie down and off, Walks beautifully on a harness and lead, Happy walking alongside other dogs,

Murphy is also a bit of an explorer! He has worked out how to open doors and likes to investigate what might be waiting on the other side, although thankfully he isn’t destructive. Travelling is one area Murphy does currently struggle with is travelling in the car, which he finds stressful. His new family will need to be understanding of this and willing to work with him gradually and positively to help build his confidence around travelling.

Overall, Murphy is a calm, loving and wonderfully affectionate lad with so much love to give. He’s looking for a home where he can truly be part of the family, enjoy his walks and adventures and, most importantly, always have a knee available when he decides it’s cuddle time!
